Change of Direction
I’m interested in what is happening in the world today. I pay attention to politics and I love America. I have no experience as a reporter and I don’t have any of the connections that many reporters and writers on Substack have and really no way to connect with those I would need if I were to use my substack to “report” on politics.
You don’t need to have those things to have opinions and I have a lot of those. Most of them are very critical of our current “leadership” (if that’s what you want to call it). Without going into specifics I don’t think our country is in a good place on our 250th Birthday. In the future if politics become a subject here it will be based on my opinion. I will do my best to back up my opinion with research but still it will be opinion based but right now I have other irons in the fire that demand my attention. Near the top of that list is to continue the process of leaving our home of 35 years and into a new community.
Since I was a high school student I’ve been interested in the history of my family. I’m the self appointed family historian, working to dig deeper into my roots and preserve what I already know. I’ve talked to or written or emailed dozens of persons related to me in one way or another. Many of them were extremely generous in sharing not only their knowledge but also the artifacts they had saved from their branch of the family.
As I’ve cleaned out dresser drawers and file cabinets I continue to run into envelopes of old family pictures. I thought I had most of them already organized but it appears I only thought it but didn’t actually do it. I can’t sit here now and tell you just how many photographs I’m talking about but the number is well into the hundreds. Some dating back to the earliest days of photography.
I wondered if perhaps readers might enjoy browsing through some of those oldies-but-goodies with me for a few weeks. IS THAT SOMETHING YOU’D LIKE TO SEE? USE THE COMMENT OPTION TO LET ME KNOW. This will keep “IS IT JUST ME” alive while I keep the rest of my life on some sort of balance.
I won’t bore you with lengthy descriptions or names…just images for you to enjoy. If you have questions about any of the images you can ask those in the comment section.

I like the old photos. It reminds me I have years of digital photos that I should put captions on while the names are still obvious. I used to write on printed photos, but lost it going to digital.
The "yours truly" must be where you started your professional interests. 😁
